ROI success in 2023: Over 500 job placements and two national awards

We are excited to announce that the Remote Online Initiative program has not only surpassed 500 job placements in 2023 but also received two prestigious national awards:

  • JCEP Excellence in Extension Engagement Team Award from the Joint Council of Extension Professionals (JCEP)
  • NACDEP Excellence in Community Development Work Team Award from the National Association of Community Development Extension Professionals (NACDEP)

These achievements underscore our commitment to connecting rural Utah residents with remote job opportunities and aiding businesses in creating/converting remote positions, contributing to the economic vitality of both rural and urban areas in Utah. We are grateful to our participants, partners, and supporters for being an integral part of this journey.

Remote jobs in Utah

Success Story: Maddison Newman

Maddison Newman is from Weber County, Utah and works as a Sales Manager.

"The Certified Sales Professional course was very helpful because it prepared me for my position and gave me confidence to succeed. I received a raise within the first month of being hired and my boss gives me praise constantly because of my work. Thanks to this course, I have gone from having no job and pregnant to a management position in which I have learned different sales techniques and computer tools that help me in my job. I believe there is still a lot more to come, and I am excited to use my new skills. Thanks to everyone who help make this possible!"

The future of the office has arrived: It's hybrid

Remote work trends illustrate how the modern workplace has transformed. Where, when, and how people work all look very different today compared with a few years ago. As a result, these unprecedented shifts in remote work flexibility have reshaped the workplace for remote-capable employees, with the dominant pattern being hybrid:

  • Five in 10 are working hybrid (part of their week at home and part on-site).
  • Three in 10 are working exclusively remotely.
  • Two in 10 are working entirely on-site.

Remote work in the news

  • Forbes: Companies allowing remote work outperform on revenue growth, which may be more a reflection of their orientation toward trust than flexible work.
  • Bloomberg: 84% of Allstate’s new US hires over the past year don’t live near a local office, and Allstate’s remote-friendly open roles get 2x as many applications.
  • Harvard Business Review: Extreme weather events are harder on companies that aren’t able or prepared to work from home. As those events become more frequent, the ability to work remotely will become more important.
